content vs people: what's important to you?

I came across an article comparing several different linking applications (delicious, diigo, pinboard, etc) and the author raised a question that I hadn't considered before, but I think is pretty interesting. Feel free to signal-boost, because having some sense of what's important to fandom-users will probably be important down the road... and this kind of "what's important" is one of the most basic issues.

I'll explain more in a later post, but I don't want to bias anyone. For now, just have a poll.

Specifically on delicious, I (previously) checked who else had saved my bookmarks, and then investigated what else they had. That done, I added the ones I particularly liked to my network. Not sure how this will work going forwards.

Me neither, but knowing how people used a site tells me a lot about what value they placed on things, and how they changed the approach to fit with what they wanted/needed. I mean, ultimately, the database could be exactly the same, but it's the emphasis you put on things (design-wise) that indicate what's the main priority, right? And that main priority should be determined by the users, hence the question.
