Having now (finally) seen some of Avatar, I've come to the conclusion that anyone who thinks this series is 100% Anglos is probably someone who saw Mulan and thought its entire cast was Hispanic.

Freaking morons.

The cast list still makes me bitter, since I really do like the cartoon version of Avatar *sighs*

I'm not convinced yet that I like the cartoon series all that much. Some parts of it remain too much an American production -- and I mean 'production' very specifically, in terms of production values -- to really have the depth I prefer in my storytelling.

So mostly I'm watching, skipping forward when I get bored, and waiting for that ah-hah moment that will either be one moment too many, or the right moment to finally capture me.

There is much weeping and wailing over the cast list. Personally, I'm just going to refuse to watch it. *grumble*

I guess I wouldn't say I'm weeping and wailing so much as resigned. Some things just don't freaking surprise me anymore. They disappoint me, but not surprise me.

For serious. D:

So, liking it so far? (I got suckered in and don't remember how, and have loved it ridiculously since. ... yes, especially Zuko.)

Hmm. I'm not really certain, yet. I've got a lot of folks on here who did like it, so I'm willing to give it more time than normal -- usually I'll quit a series either at 3 episodes in, or at the halfway point of a season. I pushed past the 3-episode mark, but I'm nearing the half-season mark, and we'll see.

Mostly it's just the production values that get to me, and the script-writing, in that the script (unlike translated scripts) really highlights some of the issues I have with American cartoons. I mean, practically puts a gold-freaking frame around them with a neon sign overhead.

But I'll save that for its own post. Sigh.

Well, now I've posted on what I think so far. *whistles nonchalantly*
