A friend passed this along, and now it's all ya'lls turn. Watch. It's amazing, powerful, heart-breaking, and yet hopeful. It's been a long time since the internets have shown me something that really, truly, spoke like this spoken-word poem.

Date: 21 Feb 2013 03:57 am (UTC)I admit to both victimizing and being victimized in the school bullying games. I'd like to think I didn't do anything horribly cruel, but who knows? It's been several decades and gods know my memory is not that good. I probably really hurt more than one person, and I really regret it.
I was bullied by my mother at home, so I just remember scoffing at my classmates' amateur attempts. Still, they made it clear I was freakish, and they were pretty mean about it. After the initial hurt, I just decided I didn't care. (But I did, of course. And it's still there, somewhere.)
A beautiful, haunting piece. Thanks again.
