It just occured to me -- as I peruse the last installment in the T/Q series -- that part of the difficulty in writing Trowa's experiences is because somewhere along the lines, my mental version of Trowa has become inextricably tangled with the one person I've met in real life who is, undoubtedly, a Trowa through-and-through. He's easy-going, though has his own set of internal principles and will only budge after great effort, can be amazingly coarse in one situation and quite gentlemanly in others, more likely to smile and nod during a conversation -- until you get him talking and then he bloody well won't shut up, has a lovely deep voice, and, I should mention, is 6'3".
Which is all amusing, and fodder for characterization-basis, except... he's my sister's boyfriend.
And, frankly, the contemplation of mixing sex-related thoughts and anything to do with my little sister -- okay, even one-step-removed! -- is just... ewww.

And with some of the friends I've got, the threat of hurt is not only real, but easily carried out.

I've seen fans slash two people who resemble their favorite cartoon couple. By two people, I mean real life friends/classmates/distant relatives. They post photos too. It's a fine line between amusing and disturbing.

Date: 16 Jul 2007 07:17 pm (UTC)I'm trying to think if I know any Quatre-minds. I'd have to say only the coxswains I've met could be remotely close, and that's possibly b/c of the responsibility of the role, and the emphasis on strategy and mental strength in competition. (The coxswain also often has a Quatre-complex, being the least-strong in the boat, aka 'dead-weight', but also the brains behind the operation; I'm thinking of Zechs aiming for Quatre b/c he's the nexus & Quatre assuming it's b/c Zechs is going for the weakest point.)
I can think of only two or three Wufei-minds that I've met (in terms of style, presentation, that oh-so-formal heavy-sarcasm) and man have I hated them. How they do grate on me, and if I can't avoid them, I just say nothing at all, not even acknowledge they exist.
The concept of slashing two people b/c of who they look like is... rather creepy.
