a very tiny con report
5 Aug 2006 07:42 pm...since I attended only long enough to have dinner with good friends well worth the trip in friday afternoon traffic, while happily avoiding any of the usual con bullshit. Mostly. And I was going to post something here about the minor touch o' bullshit that did cross my path (or was in my near vicinity at least), but I had a trip back to the city afterwards, and the next morning to hang, and then a half-hour to wander around my old stomping grounds and then six hours on a plane, and that was enough time to realize what really needs to be said.
Thus I quote -- for my remembrance and for anyone else's edification -- the most astute comment I've heard at a con in a long time:
Fandom doesn't always 'make it all better'.
Think outside the fandom-box, people; fandom may be your hammer, but life is not a nail.
