kaigou: Edward, losing it. (1 Edward conniption)

"A what? You rode a..." Ed's gaze moved past Alphonse, and his eyes went almost impossibly wide; his mouth was as round as his eyes. "That's not a horse," he hissed furiously, never taking his gaze off Mustang - with Becky across his lap - guiding the horse down the footpath to the road. Ed swallowed, hard. "That's...that's a fucking house! On legs!"

*imagines a 22 hand clydesdale* In that case, you should be very comfortable on the long ride home, ne?

Yah, The Duo used to ride, so we had a short discussion last night refreshing my memory about hands versus feet and what that measures. If Alphonse is about 5'9 or 5'10, and he's at eye-level with the horse's back, that puts the horse at somewhere around 18 or 19 hands. I figured a horse that size could handle it, if it's not an excessively long trip, and if it's part clydesdale or percheron.

Met an Olympic jumper once, that was an Arabian/Percheron mix, stood 18 hands. Damn thing was MASSIVE...and looked like an Arabian on steroids. Gorgeous, amazing horse. The stables had to build extensions on the fence to take it up to nine feet, since the horse would randomly decide he wanted to be in a different pasture, thank you, and would just hop the fence and go exploring. When the horse is worth more than my frickin' townhouse, this is not a good thing!

Heh. Yep. Biiiiiig horse. ;D

Ooooh, poor boys' legs. 'specially Roy's. Riding something with that broad a back... Eeep. But still, huge horses rock. Literally. *grins*

And do I sense the slightest hippophobia in Ed? Or is he mainly afraid of heights?

*grins* Ed-teasing is fun. >D

If you're 5'6", not used to horses, and see a horse even only 17 hands high...it's MASSIVE. A horse 22 hands high is like...well, beyond massive. Enough to boggle even the calmest person, and we all know Ed ain't always that calm. Heh.

Yeah, Roy is going to be in bed -- probably at gun point -- until he recovers. I suspect Captain Hawkeye will see to that!

(I was remarking last night that I think I've discovered the secret to writing the interaction between Hawkeye and Mustang in more light-hearted moods. Just have Mustang act like the little boy with his hand caught in the cookie jar, and that's pretty much the dynamic. Heh. Hawkeye so frickin' rocks.)

Five six? You're telling me Ed's almost my height in "Desires"? And here I was, gloating... *sighs* Even Ed's gonna outgrow me someday, I just know it.

(Hawkeye definitely rocks. 'specially when she's written to be more than just an office dragon (or whatever you call that in English)... My grin's growing past my ears. Thinking "how Liza 'shot' Black Hayate" again. (^_^;) )
