...Because then there's the reviews that just make you go *stompstompstomp*

Your story started very good and interested but you made it each time more and more complicated. AND the result is not GW anymore even if they are in, no it is some strange story. What every you wanted to reach with you story I dont think you are going in good direction. You have very good talent for writing but here it is not GW story anymore. Come on, do something here. Dont get mad.

Yes, this would be the point of an AU, girly. Ah, another poor fan who honestly believes safe-houses and unrequited luuuurve make up the majority of the storyline. Because obviously war, despair, philosophy, and mecha (can't forget the mecha!) aren't GW.

Then again, Tyr (the GWA archivist) mentioned to me the other day that her most common complaint about my stories is that they're never IC; in her opinion, it's all ofic with GW names slapped on. I told her, I don't take it personally anymore. Now, when she tells me that, I'm happy, because it means the rest of the fandom will read it as being completely IC. It's when she tells me the story's IC (like Trace, which she really liked) that I get worried.

It's like reverse archivist psychology, or something.

Not in character? wtf. Did we watch the same show-- oh, wait, my mistake. You don't take you characterization from the approved fanon, therefore your interpretation isn't valid. U_U GRARRR.

Not IC? O.O I think your stories are the most IC ones I´ve ever read. And I like your attitude. And don´t worry, she told me the same :D *claps you on the back*

*flinches* Wow, that review is so badly written it actually made me wince to read. And this person thinks she has any place critiquing anyone else? Not.

Actually, most of the wince-fulness could be put down to ESL. The demand that you "do something", followed by the "don't get mad" afterthought is what really calls for the combat boots.

Only if we're talking about Franz Fanon. *ducks*

Not IC? Um. Well, I suppose there's always room for interpretation. What one person finds IC, another might not. Personally, I think you're characters are more IC than 90%+ of stories I've read, so whatever.

And yeah, it would seem this person isn't entirely clear on the AU concept. Bah.

Sorry I ignored you this morning. I was...uh, actually rather hungover. >_

Meh. So someone's complaining about a complicated story? You think that someone would be grateful to find good fic in the hordes of terrible cliche fic that's out there in the GW fandom. >_>x

I'd have to disagree with Tyr, though - your fics are some of the most IC and intelligent ones (in my opinion, anyway) that I've ever read in the fandom.

You'll have to aim your tirade against CP at me as well. I also thought that Franz Fanon had somehow mysteriously infiltrated internet fan-fiction. [ducks for cover].

I will reveal my ignorance further by asking you what IC is. Is it far away from the OC? [ducks for cover again]

The job of a fanfic filterer never ends, does it?

Oddly enough, I can understand exactly what Tyr means. I've thought similar things. I wouldn't have phrased it that way though.

It's not a question of canon vs. fanon as it is fanfic vs ofic, I think. Your stories are very different from pretty much all the other fanfic out there. The characters may be GW, but the stories themselves and plotlines go so above and beyond most other fics, or in places the original GW itself, that it's as much as watching a whole nother anime or reading a series of books. Naturally in such situations the characters will develop and change in different ways than they would if your stories went in another direction.
