Rachel Maddow, talking about the New England snowstorms, and... a rather ingenious solution in Iowa. Enjoy! [note: NOT political segment, btw]

Really awesome pizza. Mmmmm. Pizza.

And having gone for almost 24 hours without power due to the ice storm in the midwest, I so agree. While our power company hired someone this summer to do absolutely nothing more than trim all trees from power lines and take out huge amounts of shrubs and such, all I could think was: wouldn't it just be easier to start burying power lines, especially where you just *know* there are going to be problems. I am told that it costs too much to do that, but... how much did it cost for them to get extra crews from wherever to come in and fix all of the downed lines around here, and down around Macomb where they were out for several days? And it's the beginning of the season!

Yeah, she mispronounced "Ankeny" (It's pronounced "Ank-eny"). But hey, Iowa also has Nevada (pronunced Ne-veh-da), so it may just be Iowa.

I go to school in Ankeny. Haven't lately (Winter Break). So sad my own truck is frozen in.

I tend to give folks a break on town pronunciation, considering that this country has towns like Opelika where even the residents aren't entirely in agreement. Anyone's bound to get confused at some point.

On the plus side, if you go back to school & find yourself spending all day craving pizza, now you'll know why!

Ms.Information!!! I love it. She's such a refreshing change from all the pretty puppets that usually do the weatherblather.
