Yes, this exactly. :3 (And damn, but this is true re arts--I am convinced that these sorts of things have a life of their own and pretty much you have to let the art talk to you as much as creating it. :3)

!!! YES! THIS!!! It's especially true for me with writing these days - I do so much of my writing for work, where it's all accuracy and word count to fit it into the space the newspapers let us have, and where I have to maintain a tone that borders on perky.
