Quick note, no spoilers: the original code name of the Exia was Seven of Swords.

Now, this could be purely a random selection on the part of the writers, and chosen for the poetic element (the repetition of the soft-s), or it could be a hint. After all, the seven of swords is traditionally called the Lord of Unstable Effort, or, Futility. The classic version of the card shows a man stealing away from a camp with five swords in his arms; two swords remain behind him, stuck into the sand, and the man's looking over his shoulders at the encampment with a sly expression. The card nominally represents success only through cunning, and despite huge adversity; it may also represent an inability to succeed due to frustrations and obstacles, especially those self-generated by uncertainty in one's purpose.

Hmmmm.

Since I would hope the codename was chosen because of what it represents in a positive sense for CB overall (and not a writerly hint on what the Exia becomes for Seiei personally), I have to wonder just what the message is.

Of course, before I do that, I must sleep. Really. Any minute now...

[Related: y'know, maybe there's a way to get gwanalysis to merge with a new comm, something like "gundam_analysis"... because I now know I'm not the only person fascinated, and I know there's got to be plenty Wing and SEED fans, among others, who might be interested in a place where analyzing one might provoke someone more familiar with a different series to weigh in on how that series handled/displayed the issues. Thoughts?]

I'd be very interested, seeing as how I have an ongoing analysis in my own journal. I've just finished analyzing the four Gundam Meisters and my reasons for believing that Celestial Being is not all that it appears to be. My next analysis was going to be of the political climate in Gundam 00.

raletha is one of the maintainers of a current analysis-specific gundam comm, but right now the focus for that comm is Wing. She's going to look into expanding the comm to include all the gundam series -- and then folks like you and I (and those who watch/reply) would have a place to post (or at least cross-post) our musings. Given the chance, I prefer a one-stop shopping for analytical goodness, rather than meandering all over my flist to find the latest contemplations.

That would be awesome if you could expand! Let me know how it goes, and I'll cross-post over in gundam00 to let the analytical folks there know, too.

[It would also make more sense on some levels to have a cross-gundam analysis comm, at least for me -- since I tend to pull from the various gundam series and compare them, on a semi-regular basis.]

Can't figure out how to rename the comm at present, but I have made a post and amended the rules section to include all other Gundam series. ^^

I did find out how to rename, but it involves giving LJ more money than I feel the rename service is worth, so am not going to do it. At least not right now! ^^;;
