I'm on ep4 or 5, and I feel like I'm watching Planet of the Apes as filmed by Timothy Leary after running the story through a Eureka Seven filter and throwing it in a blender with Samurai Champloo, and spiced liberally with the non sequitors of FLCL and the general wackiness that is Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi's mecha episode.

Which is to say: I'm enjoying this series greatly.

What keeps getting me (in a good way) is that Kamina's seiyuu also did Soubi in Loveless, and currently does Johann in Double-Oh, and those two are absolute examples of the cool, calm, collected, and never ever flustered kinda characters... and then along comes Kamina. Talk about going against type! (But he does a great job of balancing the utter wackiness and the sudden turns into serious or thoughtful.)

YES! GL is so much damn fun, and it's fast-paced, too. Definitely one of the best series to come out last year.

I just finished episode, uh, eight. I was kinda spoiled when I went looking for the seiyuu for one actor (since it sounded really familiar) and stupidly used Wiki instead of ANN -- Wiki's full of spoilers in its character summaries, so normally I avoid it but even trying to 'not pay attention' I saw this one critical moment kinda spoiler and I said, oh, wait, maybe it was saying that's what it looks like, because (as I'm watching) it's, see, it's okay! it'll be alright! the spoiler wasn't really a spoiler it was just --- what? wait, no, no, that's not supposed to happen!

So it was like being upset despite the spoiler, or maybe finally managing to despoiler myself through sheer concentration. (I guess after enough time online and risking spoilers by people insensitive -- or just plain stupid -- enough to not care if they're giving stuff away, I've developed some skill at reading-without-really-reading and blatantly forcing myself to simply not-recall. Y'know?) But still. For a moment there, I was certain that I'd not only somewhat avoided remembering the spoiler, that it was also false, and I was happy...

...and then I was not.

*sniffle*

Man.
