And right there is the maturity I'd expect in someone who owns a gun, just as much as I'd expect someone with the tendency to drink too much to realize this as part of owning a car. "If I sometimes don't track my intake, I must be mature enough to take a cab home, or ask someone to drive me, or sit there on the sidewalk for four hours until I sober up."
It's the people who never think about the risks that bother me -- almost as much as the people who only think about the risks, and refuse to see the benefits.
