The catch is that I don't know of any NFPs that are entirely online.

OTW is already 501(c)(3) organization. For fandom use, spinning off AO3's bookmarks into a separate but interoperable project under the OTW umbrella seems like the most sustainable long term option. IMO the OTW has a good track record to date, but I'm a member and therefore biased, plus four years isn't all that long. Also, some portion of fandom will refuse to use an OTW service on principle. On the other hand, I don't think fandom can support two nonprofit infrastructure orgs. So ultimately I don't know.

I wish Delicious had held on a few years longer until AO3 had a chance to beef up bookmarks. As is, I'm afraid they're not really in a position to take advantage of the current bookmarking vacuum.

From discussions, it seems like most people would prefer to keep all their bookmarks on one service, which argues for a DW-analogue business instead. Maybe DW itself will finally implement the memories redesign they've been promising and allow saving offsite links?
