Let's just say some people tend to ignore the fact that there is a difference between being involved in a subculture, and running a business, and no matter what direction they take they can't escape the realities of capitalism, which can lead to serious mistakes. Which, for many reasons, does make me wonder if I myself can be entirely ethical in regards to my own plans...
It's not like with books, where you have hundreds of years of bookstores to know that people value books.
Physical verses data copies? I got some interesting news about a recent B&N closure in my area, and for foolish reasons fans of a local indie store are celebrating. I'll post about it when time permits.
Personally it's not that I'm unwilling to pay, it just better have a lot of great features if its just a bookmarking service. I already pay monthly for Evernote and some other services, and a bookmarking service is competition for money from other services. Maybe a sliding scale option would work, or something.
