ropar maskinen -- or ropar apparat? which sounds/looks better to you? and we've been calling it "an awfully snazzy machine" but I haven't the faintest clue what would be an equivalent informal/slang. All I could find is that "dekorerad" means "fancy".
But it's okay! Because I haven't dragged out my paints & paintbrushes yet. On the other hand, if I end up with slightly butchered Swedish, I think G will probably forgive me. Erm, I hope. Still, I don't want to risk being graded on it. (And I guess in that analogy, asking anyone for help constitutes CHEATING but HELLO it's my journal and I can suspend the honor code if I want to!)
