Agreed that one should realize the broad impact of holding an ignorant statement, but there's a difference between assumption of maliciousness versus assumption of just plain ignorance, when it comes to any hope IMO/IME of changing that ignorance. The dogpile enabled by linkspam, more often than not, appears to assume intentional offense rather than ever giving any benefit of the doubt.
'Tis the nature of anger to be angry, and in nearly every fail case I can name, the angry parties have every damn right to be angry. It just seems like sometimes that anger, in the right dose, can change minds. In extremes, it becomes more like a scorched-earth tactic, and no one learns.
