Not manga or manwha, but an interesting counter example - Delia Sherman's novel Through A Brazen Mirror. It's loosely based on a folk tale or ballad, and to me it felt like an explicit critique of that idea of the protagonist's conflict being resolved by the gender reveal. I don't want to say too much in case you'd like to read it, but it's basically a queer reworking of this narrative pattern.
