Re: Chinese folklore & the Cultural Revolution, because that's the only thing I can talk about with personal experience - one thing that always shocks me is that when I go looking for the little stories, or when I ask, most people are dismissive. They simply don't care. There are some from my parents' generation who've wholly rejected them, because they were, to quote 'poisonous and engendering imperialism'. And it's hard to believe that, because cultural submission and folklore are surely completely different things.

The result is that I hear a tonne about the same myths, over and over again, or history taken as folklore, because there's very little else to tell.
