I think sometimes people look at me funny for having gone through what I did, last summer, trying to shoehorn fandom's idea of logical organization into an, uhm, actual logical organization system (aka Wordpress)... but it also taught me massive amounts, hands-on, in how to organize and understand and juggle and relate both static and incredibly fluid ways of presenting and storing and relating data. Most CMS/archives just won't ever have (or just won't ever allow) such fluidity as what fanfic writers want and demand, so in that sense... I may fuss and find humor in the madness that is fandom, but I can't deny it's taught me a helluva lot, and not just in the area of writing but in plenty of other things I never would've expected.
