AD[D|GD] being related to autistic spectrum disorders does not surprise me; the EVERYTHING11! and hyperfocus pie charts feel very familiar to me as someone with Aspergers. In retrospect I'm surprised that I wasn't on any medication as a child (I couldn't sit still or concentrate on one lesson or homework long enough to finish it), but I got nothing until I was a teenager and stopped being able to cope with the co-morbid anxiety disorder (this is hardly surprising considering that an autistic childhood feels like being surrounded by aliens). I'm not taking anything at the minute, thanks to a combination of learned coping strategies and the fact that software engineers consider hyperfocus an understandable and even desirable state. Nevertheless the Lindholm article made me rage.
