In theory, yes, negative is still better than none at all, but doing it in such a way that you appear to be both shrill and on the defensive is rather counterproductive, I'd say.

For an example of how to do it right that remains one of my favorites, see SBTB's review of Pregnesia, and the author's reply. Now that's classy reaction that mitigates the negative and creates a bit of positive.
