kaigou: this is what I do, darling (2 what I do)

I didn't mean to imply that the names listed are automatically suspect -- only that they aren't D&K, and that this is perfectly legit. Maybe not entirely fair, but it is legit. I consider it highly suspect, because if D&K were on-board, I would expect to see them involved in further additions to the franchise (being, y'know, kinda integral to the original series), but it's still entirely legit for them to be completely absent and the franchise carry on without them or their input. Nickelodeon owns the copyright and trademarks, and can do as it damn well pleases with the entire franchise. Period, full stop.

My sole reason for pointing this out is because the majority of my flist/dwircle are familiar with copyright via fiction standards, in which the author does retain some basic control over their copyright. That is, you write a novel, it's not work-for-hire. So I've seen fussing here and there about how the original creators must agree with the direction the franchise is going -- and I wanted to explain that no, in fact, the way publishing works is not the same as the way the visual (and auditory arts) industry works.
