And does it matter if the Expys are side characters? I had a lot of fun once I realized the similarities, personally - I read it as more as a kind of wink to the people who could catch those dynamics, though maybe it wasn't. I don't really have any way to know for sure. (other than asking directly which...yeah, no. XD)
