Dude, even the light/dark is falling behind. I think the last three or four UF I read, any contrast of good/bad was designated by made-up names, or based on some other up/down contrast (like clockwise and widdershins, seen that once or twice), or fire/wind (or maybe it was fire/ocean, whatever). There's just a good long list of modern-day baggage issues associated with colors-as-value-judgments, and no good reason for an author to take that path, or any at all if s/he can think up something that works better for the story.
Unless, of course, the author intends to make a political statement by having white witches and black witches and maybe some kind of ongoing conflicts between them on the grounds that the white witches have made more of a headway getting equality from warlocks but managed it via leaving behind their black witch sisters OR SOMETHING -- in which case, if that's an intentional implication, then by all means, use the culturally-loaded terminology.
