Oh, yeah, I totally know what you mean about the first time holding Rubyfruit Jungle. I was standing in a DC bookstore and the title caught my eye, I start reading the description and I nearly dropped the book. My hands were shaking as I purchased it, and I didn't even think whether I should be embarrassed about buying 'a book about that' or even worried about what anyone would think. I was, hrm... I was like Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, opening the chocolate bar and discovering the gold wrapper that meant I'd won the lottery, and I couldn't wait to scurry home with my prize and curl up to read it where I wouldn't be interrupted.
That kind of memory, actually, was one of the main reasons I opened a bookstore, and nothing made my days like watching someone else go through that moment themselves.
