The fact is that I'm not certain whether LLF truly intended for "LGBT literature" to be interpreted as equivalent to the academic/literary understanding of what it means to speak of "literature" -- but that was how I, and everyone I knew, interpreted it. Even now, if I ask academic, librarian, or just general readerly friends what kinds of titles are (or are not) included in "X-type literature", the answer they give is the same definition I've used here.

Frankly, the LLF's re-worked mission statement looks to me like what happens when you let the lawyers have a go.
