kaigouI grinned at them, slow and easy, unsurprised when one man stepped forward from behind them. None of them moved as he spoke.
"Mister Maxwell, we've been expecting you," he told me.
"Doesn't look like you're wanting some scintillating conversation, though," I drawled, eyeing the various weaponry pointed at me.
"Not really." He chuckled, and waved a hand before stepping back, to fade behind his goons. "Have at him, boys."
Their guns opened fire simultaneously, and I managed to pull one weapon, kicking off to the side as a blast popped past my ear, and a second one hit my thigh. High, and near the inside. Damn, artery blood sure is bright red. I fully expected my life to be flashing before my eyes, but obviously it had been too long and full, and I didn't have enou
