I'm very fond of Point of Dreams, but it helps to read Point of Hopes first. They built a pretty interesting world, vaguely matriarchal, heavily influenced by astrology, with same-sex lovers taken as a matter of course. It's that last that makes me forgive it when it gets to be heavy going, which both books admittedly do. I really like Rathe and Philip, though; they're cute.
