I do get the whole dialogue+foley+orchestration/song. I've got several Japanese soundtracks/song collections/dramatic masters that do recognize the emotional/instinctive 'punch' that the combined version provides. It's to the point that the plain song or orchestration does not sound right when heard by itself without the other parts being melded in.
Back in the day many of my (and friends) road trips started with these pieces of music as it directly keyed up the psyche with mecha roaring past, alarms blaring, frantic dialogue, and crescendos of orchestra/guitar/drums.
Yeah, my car is still a Gundam and I still start trips this way. It's kind of hardwired in now. Just a monkey, no king.
