All I can tell you is that I scored two music books, printed in 1916 and 1920, from that library's sales. Very popular through the 30s, then tapered off, but someone had checked each out at least once every few years... then nothing from '70 on. Sad, but good for me!
(Of course, now you must visualize 11-yr old on metro with stack of books about a foot high, and all books in stack measuring a foot by a foot and a half, and then taking the bus, then walking... wow. The things I did for books.)
