Given the choice, I'd take them in full leather, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do -- which is why I have a number of "books" that consist of comb-bound printouts of pdf scans, rather than ponying up $150+ for a used version of some OOP work I need for research.

What I'd really like, at least when it comes to research material, is both a searchable softcopy and a durable hardback for my shelf. As to fiction, it depends whether I'm going to read it and set it aside, or come back to it again and again.
