Hah, there must be a lot of Brits in Aberdeen! That's where my folks were introduced to it -- a'course, it was also like, hrm, maybe 70F outside? which was VERY cold for us, bwahaha -- and my mother was all, "uh, ICE, please?" ... although after we'd been there for awhile, she admitted that it wasn't that bad, although it'd never fly in Montgomery, Alabama.
Yes, that was my UK experience: leave the UK on a morning that my sister and I are in thick tights, plaid skirts, and fluffy jackets and just right against the 50F or so morning temp... and land in Montgomery Alabama eight hours later and it's 99F with 90% humidity. The entire family spent the next month laying around in unending misery. Sigh.
