Even just that single frame, earlier, when Ewon's trying to remember his childhood -- that gave me the shivers. The only other detail we've really got is Ewon talking about "being left out in the freezing cold" in reference to letting himself open up to Mookyul's warmth, etc. I'm guessing abandonment of some sort, but the images are still pretty sketchy. I agree with you though, I'm expecting something pretty horrific.
I agree about Mookyul loving Ewon, which was why I qualified it: I think he loves Ewon as best as he can in the way he understands what it is to love. We all express love and affection as we were taught, as children, which is why abusive cycles can be so hard to break -- that's why I think understanding the Chairman is the key to understanding Mookyul, just as figuring out what happened between Ewon and his mother is the likeliest key to understanding why Ewon holds himself so separate at all costs.
