I still can't believe the interviews I read, courtesy links on that comm. (Thanks for the link, no matter how heartbreaking it was to read more in depth on the travesty.) I mean, only one person in the cast has read the books, and she clearly didn't even pay much attention. Her recounting of her role, in the book-version, is so off, it's just... sad. I mean, really sad.

I'm trying to think of any well-done book-adaptation where the actors involved had not read the book, and/or had no intention of doing so. Didn't the folks on the LotR cast(s) sit around and read the books during their breaks in shooting? I seem to recall they had a round-robin going at some point... and I'm quite certain there's not a person on the HP casts who hasn't read each and every book. It's the source material, fer cryin' out loud!

If nothing else -- even assuming the movie was a decent attempt at an accurate adapation -- I'd still be patently disgusted at the notion of a cast of actors with no interest in reading the written version. I'd think it's the least they could do, to respect the author who wrote the story that's going to be the vehicle for their paycheck. Arrogant assholes.
