It's not so common for authors to just launch outright rant-level, illogical, lengthy attacks on their own fans; that seems to be the arena predominantly of female writers. Or have men done it but not nearly as noisily? Or just not as publically? Curious.)

I don't recall offhand any wild attacks by male authors on their fans. I do know several male authors who have remarked in private about some of their fans, but in public...? No. The authors *I* know, at least, have sense enough to keep those kind of vitriolic thoughts firmly within the confines of closed-door conversations. Public rants like Hamilton's are what give ammunition to the stereotype of women being hormonally-influenced, mood-swinging, tantrum-throwing bitches, while men are the calm, cool and ...*cough*... more reasonable examples of the species.
