Agreed. I was...disappointed, to say the least. Way to dilute the themes! The visuals were pretty nice, though.

This makes me sad and happy. :() because compared to HP these books were so full of new ideas and themes, but they managed to make good movies out of HP and not this? Maybe some things are meant to just be read and imagined - we readers can keep the best stuff for ourselves.

I haven't seen it yet, but since I liked the books, I should expect not as much? (Honestly, no books for a long while have made me want to illustrate quite as much as His Dark Materials. Amazing mental images.)
